Karin

instruments:shakers, vocals, bass

Nationality: American

Karin joined the band with her poems in hand, never having read one out loud until 'the chicks' promised to put them to music.

Karin still continues her journey in TaiChung(a long time resident); writing poetry, learning bass, fiddling about on the computer, and wailing her way through. Teaching English to make money and hoping to change her career before she hits 40.

FOR CATHY

Yanking the vines away,
breaking down the garden,
images of the past flood my thoughts.
You are there with me re-discovering treasures buried.
The garden has taken on its own life,
reached into the cracks and crevices since you left it.
It has wrapped itself around the babies and protected them,
allowing the young ones to flourish as they desire rather than how
we prescribe.

Digging up the soil,
uncovering items forgotten over time;
a broken ashtray,
a rusted lighter,
ceramics shattered.
Delicate, sturdy ferns
invasive vines,
mother-in-law's tongue.

Transplanting the survivors, i wonder how they will do confined.
Forced into a new environment. Bound by rules imposed.
Tamed after years of freedom.
i think of you;
reaching out in a new place, finding the sun and growing,
protecting the babies, adapting to the rules of the environment.

Pulling back the vines, treasures are revealed.

Here are a few of my photos from this year.

Some are on slide, some are not sorted, some really SUCK,

and some are PRETTY cool.
